I have been trying out Microsoft Flight Simulator X on my new PC for the past few weeks. In the Netherlands this software might be around eighty euros, while here in Republic Indonesia you can try buy illegal versions for four euros. The graphics of this 'game' (you can't call a sim like that) look amazing! It doesn't only look better, but the gameplay is also much more fun compared to the open source simulator FlightGear (check previous article). At least you can expect that if you have to pay for software.
The simulator has also an online multiplayer mode, which unfortunately I have only played once due to the horrible internet connection here in Depok, Indonesia. (sometimes called 'the edge of nowhere') Playing this sim online is nice, other players are occupying the airports and skies as pilots and MSFX (abbreviation) also offers a special ATC mode (Air Traffic Control) where players are able to take control pf the airport.
There is also a huge list of missions you can accomplish, such as tutorials to begin with until expert missions. In the toughest mission the simulator sketches situations where engines, flaps or speed brakes are failing.
It provides a more relaxing game experience, unlike First Person Shooters.
